The Lovely Linda is the first track from Paul McCartney's debut album, McCartney. It was the first song recorded for the album and served as a test for the new recording instruments installed in McCartney's home. At a short 43 seconds, the song served as a reply of sorts to the relationship of John Lennon and Yoko Ono.[1] Apparently, the song was supposed to be extended and that the original 43 second version was a "preview;" This official release never came.

Around five seconds into the song, an audible squeak can be heard. McCartney explains that Linda came in during recording.[2] The song also ends with laughter.
