Northern Songs Ltd was a private company formed by Dick James, Brian Epstein and Beatles John Lennon and Paul McCartney to publish songs in the Lennon-McCartney songwriting catalogue. It was founded in 1963, and became a public company in 1965 to reduce tax. Dick James eventually sold his shares in Northern Songs to ATV in 1967. Michael Jackson acquired rights to Northern Songs in 1995 as he had bought Sony and merged it with ATV. Jackson and ATV dissolved the company in 1995.
