Lyrics[]
[Verse 1]
There are places I'll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
[Verse 2]
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all
[Verse 3]
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
[Chorus]
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
[Chorus]
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
[Outro]
In my life I love you more
Recording[]
In My Life was recorded on October 18, 1965. Lennon asked George Martin to play a piano solo. Martin arranged a Bach-influenced piece, which he was not able to play at the song's tempo. The solo was recorded on October 22, 1965 at half-tempo (one octave lower), and the tape speed was doubled for the final recording, with the fortuitous result that it sounded like a harpsichord.
